PROJECT
INTRODUCTION

I came into this project with a slight frustration in the loss of art in architecture. Due to my interest in real estate and architecture, I often find myself exploring houses available for sale/rent in Manchester. A common theme that I came across was structures with little to no personality, and lots of boxes. Box after box, after another box. This was when i decided that i want to create something with more unique shapes, and to introduce smoothness into the shape of windows.

OK, SO WHY OLIVE?

My initial idea for the name of the brand was groove, to resemble the patterns that are apparent in wood. Upon a small survey around the peopleI know, most people said that the word groove indicates music and dance. I decided to think of different trees that i could be inspired by. I tried out willow and oak and they didn't seem suitable. I searched for woods that are durable and long lasting. I stumbled upon olive tree wood. They are also sustainable due to the fact that they are only harvested when the stop bearing fruit, so in some way, they're being recycled.
